So, John received an offer from the company in Texas today. He accepted and they told him his first day of work is July 9th. We have three weeks to get moved and get our house ready to go on the market. They will be providing housing for us in Texas until we find a place to live. They will also pay to move us out there, which is a huge thing for me. Right now that is what I am most excited about. I don't have to pack a single solitary thing. Woo-hoo!
Anyway, John decided we needed to go out and celebrate. Since the big bucks won't be rolling in for a few weeks, we decided to go cheap at O'Charley's. First, there was no hostess, then the two hostesses came running up and fought over where we should sit. They finally came to a consensus and we sat. 10 minutes go by, no waiter. The manager walked by and asked if we had been helped. She said she would go find our waiter. 5 minutes go by. The manager came back and took our drink order. She came back with drinks and took our food order. John ordered his favorite burger and I decided to try something new - a sirloin steak sandwich. The description sounded great and the picture looked good enough to eat. Now, every time I try something new at a restaurant, it turns out to be a bad experience. Well, the food came out and man, did it look good. I had to wait another 3 minutes for my forgotten mayo, but it finally came and I took my first bite. Trouble was, I couldn't bite through the meat. I tried and tried and finally succeeded in tearing the meat off with my teeth and my fingers. I looked down at my sandwich and noticed that my meat was not cooked well-done like I asked, but medium rare. Bright red meat staring me in the face. I almost lost the salad I had eaten 10 minutes before. I spit my bite out and waited another 5 minutes before John finally asked a passing waiter to get the manager. One of the bickering hostesses overheard and came and told me she would get it cooked some more, then gave me a dirty look when I declined. The manager finally came and we explained what happened. Since I had lost my appetite, I hung out while John finished his burger. Our oft-unattending waiter finally stopped by and talked me into some soup. It was good, if a little rich. Libby liked it. The manager stopped by again and told us our entire meal was on the house. Since John wanted to eave a tip for our waiter (he really was nice and did find me something appetizing to eat) they had to charge us for something (we had no cash, never do) so we paid for a $0.64 piece of cheese.
John took me to Goodberry's after. Ice cream always saves the day.

I can totally relate. We went out not long before MG was born and the experience was draining. We ended up paying over $20.00 for basically upscale fast food and spend 45 minutes trying to control two rambunctious toddlers. As if there were any question, Cory goes, "You do realize when we have three, we will NOT be doing this, right?" That is why we cook at home. =)
