My almost disastrous shopping trip
Yesterday morning, thanks to my children waking up at the sinful time of 6:20, I was able to make it out the door at to the store by 8am. The trip itself went fine, until the last thing on my list. They don't carry my brand of pickles! I am a very picky pickle person and was disappointed that I couldn't get my pickle fix. The check-out situation was dismal as usual. They had one regular lane open, and one express lane open. How ridiculous is that? There were 5 people in line at the regular, and no one at express, so the express guy waved me over. I got out to the car and got the girls buckled in and the groceries loaded when I noticed Libby did not have her stuffed elephant. I ransacked the car, my bag, and the grocery sacks and couldn't find it. I remembered seeing her with it at check-out, so at least I knew where it was. I unbuckled the girls, turned off the car, locked the doors, and trekked back inside to find the elephant. He was lying in a heap right at the check-out lane. Libby picked him up, we turned around, and headed back out to the car. As soon as I got to our lane, I noticed that I had left Libby's door hanging WIDE OPEN. Genious me made sure the soors were locked, but didn't make sure they were actually shut. And my bag with my wallet was sitting right there on the passenger seat. Nice. Thankfully there were no deviants hanging around at Wal-Mart at 9am on a Tuesday, or I would have been in big trouble. Everything was left in it's place, I got the girls buckled in AGAIN, and drove home. That was a close one. I told Libby "No more elephants in the store!"
