When the cat's away, the mice get really, really bored

So John has been in Atlanta since Sunday night. When he's gone, I get so bored! It's not like we sit around having profound conversations when he's home, or play games or have movie time when the girls go to bed. No, we usually just sit around and read and talk a little. Apparently I really like the guy, because I really miss having him around! Thankfully he will be home tonight. I can't wait!

When John goes out of town, the only good thing that comes from it is that I have full access to the car each day. So I'm able to go shopping in the morning, or visit friends, or go play. Monday I went to Sam's with my SIL. Then we stopped at Market Street and Joyce sat in her car and kept an eye on my kids while I ran inside to get a hot pizza. It was POURING! Thank goodness, it's been weeks since we got any rain. Monday night was slow going, though. I told John I desperately need cable for those nights when he's away.

Tuesday my friend Sylvia came over with her kids for a movie day. The kids ran around and played and ate popcorn and watched Dora (Sylvia's kid's choice, Libby was pleased :). Sylvia and I just sat and talked, which was nice. As they were preparing to leave, Jaina climbed up in our baby swing all my herself and promptly fell asleep. She was tuckered out from the action (and from waking up at 6:30 in the am, a development I am NOT happy with). After Sylvia left, we skipped lunch and went straight to bed for our naps. I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a truck. Sore throat, congestion, body aches, where did this come from? I've started taking grapefruit seed extract, a nasty thing that works wonders on clearing out your sinuses before they can become infected. Today I think I'll need some Dayquil to make it through. I just feel lousy.

Today we're headed to the pool with Sylvia's playgroup. We've been tagging along for a few weeks and have really been enjoying our pool time. I told John that next time we move (I can't wait for the day when there are no "next times") I want a neighborhood pool. Libby wears a lifejacket in the water, and last week she struck out from the wall and swam all the way to the other end by herself. I was pretty amazed as she had been clinging to me the whole morning up until that point. It was pretty neat to see her do that. When she got to the other end she grabbed the wall and Sylvia, Suzanne and myself all clapped and cheered for her. She was quite pleased with her accomplishment. Jaina loves being in the pool, which I think is funny since she hates baths, showers, and wading pools. She only likes the deep water, a fact I found out during our San Antonio trip a few weeks ago. I have to hold her the whole time, but in the water she weighs nothing, so I don't mind. We have a lot of fun at the pool.

And yay! John comes home tonight! His flights from Atlanta are almost always late, but since we have good weather on both ends today hopefully he'll be on time, which means he'd get to see the girls for a couple hours before they go to bed. I'll be glad to have his company again for a few days before he heads out again next week.

Those long nights without a hubby can be SOOOO boring! If you have high speed internet you should check out HULU, you can watch all sorts of shows on there- even some retro ones- its fun stuff! I also Highly recommend a netflix subscription- you can get all sorts of great movies instantly on your computer- without waiting for them to come in the mail and thats great for long boring nights too! I also check out books on tape from my library and sew while I listen to them, then I get entertained WHILE I am working! You can tell I am getting good at being lonely huh! Oh the joys of having a cop for my love!

Yes, it is much more fun when the Daddy is home. :) We feel the same way around our house!
