Personal Shopper

The other day I told John I wouldn't need the car for the rest of the week. He has been using the hotel shuttle to get to work so that I can have the car at my disposal. This morning after John left, I realized that I did not have all the ingredients I need for dinner tonight. My options - call John and have him bring the car home at lunch, then stop in the middle of making dinner to go pick him up (the shuttle needs 24 hours notice), have John miss lunch to go to the store for me, have John go to the store on his way home and not eat until 7 pm, or send a personal shopper.

So, before Libby and I left for our morning walk, we stopped by the front desk to drop off my shopping list. One of the many bonuses to hotel living is that they will do your grocery shopping for you. I haven't used the service yet, because I felt a little silly having a hotel manager pick out my tomatoes. Today I succumbed, and I don't feel silly. In fact, I feel great, with a little sheepishness thrown in.

I had a great idea during our walk. I love shopping. When all my kids are in school, I am going to hire myself out as a personal shopper. $50 bucks a week will get you all the shopping you need (you have to pay for all items, of course). I figure I will limit my outings to the period between the hours of 9 and 3, Monday-Friday. If I could get 4 customers a week, that's $200 for doing something fun part-time. Any takers?

what a great perk!!!! i actually love grocery shopping. i don't even mind taking the kids. of course, sometimes its exhausting when i have tons to get. but my mom always made it fun when i was a kid, so i think it just carried over. plus, i love to eat so much, that that is a plus, too. :)
