Yesterday, Libby had a "finish the story" assignment. I read her a paragraph given in the curriculum, and she dictated the remainder of the story. It's classic Libby and had me laughing. Thought I would share it with y'all.
The given text:
Tim and Sally received a new sled for Christmas one year. They waited and waited for the snow to fall so they could use it. Just before they went to bed one night, they saw some snowflakes dall. When they got up the next morning, snow had fallen on everything. They got on their warm snow clothes and...
Now Libby's part:
...their gloves, their hats, and their boots, and their jackets. Then they went out in the snow. They heard a big stomp in the snow. It was a dinosaur! It was a T-Rex! The children called for a cheetah to come. The cheetah picked up the children, and he ran away from the T-Rex, and they found a good place to hide. a red boxcar. And the T-Rex broke the boxcar. The cheetah jumped out with the children and found a tree to hide in. The T-Rex broke the tree, so they found a strong rock to hide in. The dinosaur used his sharp claws to pick up the rock and broke it. So they found a brick house and hid inside and the T-Rex used his fire to break the brick house. The children called so many animals to fight the T-Rex. The T-Rex heard the animals and turned around. The T-rex fought with the animals, but he died. So the animals at the dinosaur. Then they heard a noise. It was bad guys, and they chased the cheetah. The children called a nice Triceratops and a Stegosaurus, and they chased away the bad guys. The hcildren, animals, and dinosaurs jumped over the river and heard a cracking noise. It was a cliff, and it was breaking! The dinosaurs fell into the lake. They used a long rope and some long wood to make a bridge so everyone could get across. Then they heard a big giant. The children and the cheetah called for Godzilla to fight the giant. But it wasn't a giant, it was a bunny. Godzilla won't fight bunnies, so he had to go back in the water. The cheetah carried the children home and they all ate dinner. The End.
I had to convince Libby to end the story. She was all set to break out a giant scorpian for Godzilla to fight, but John was on his way to pick Libby up for a trip to the store. She made me promise to let her tell a new story today featuring Godzilla and the Scorpian.
