Defeated

So this morning I got all ambitious and was going to post videos of Jaina smiling and Libby dancing to country music. I got the videos loaded, but they had no sound. In the process of trying to correct that, I deleted all video and still pictures from our camera. All of them. Gone. Technology is killing me.

Libby has learned how to reach into her pants, undo her diaper, and then pull the diaper out through the waistband of her pants. Great. At least she then throws the diaper in the trash. I bought her some training underwear, but while she doesn't want to wear a wet diaper, she also doesn't understand that peeing in the toilet is better than peeing on the carpet. Or kitchen floor. Or bean bag chair. Or rocking chair, for that matter. We had a long morning of me trying to get her on the potty for a few minutes every half-hour. Out of 5 sessions on the potty, she peed on the floor 4 times. Not once in the toilet. Potty training is killing me.

During this time, Jaina was pretty fussy. she seems to be going through a growth spurt which makes her want to nurse more. But I have a crazy-fast let-down that chokes her, so she screams while nursing. This morning she just didn't want anything to do with nursing and cried hysterically for 30 minutes before I gave up and thawed some breastmilk I had in the freezer from when Jaina was in the hospital. she drank 5 ounces from the bottle, fell asleep, slept for about 30 minutes, then started nursing again every half hour or so for a few hours. Now she is sleeping peacefully. These growth spurts are killing me.

I was hoping to get the two girls sleeping at the same time during naps today. Jaina has been asleep for an hour, Libby has been kicking her door for an hour. Looks like today will follow yesterday's napless afternoon in which Libby slept for 4 hours but Jaina didn't sleep at all. These girls are killing me.

John has tomorrow off. But don't get too excited, he's leaving for Atlanta Sunday night.

I give up.

oh the joys of motherhood- I can certainly sympathize with you on ALL Of it! AND I can even offer a little advice- it might not work, but just in case :)
Nursing...I had the same crazy fast let down- and if you grab your pump before you nurse and express just enough to get past the let down she will nurse beautifully ;)
Potty training... Try taking a favorite toy of hers and letting her take it to the potty and pretend to have it pee in the potty, and make a big deal out of the toy going potty- and do it over and over-- once she gets the idea that she is supposed to go in the toilet- the rest will follow faster than you think! Also try checking out either videos or books from your library about it (For her-- not you!) We got one for Jax called POTTY POWER< and he watched that a few times and really got the hang of it after that-- of course he is still wetting his pants when he gets too busy playing to remember to GO TO THE BATHROOM_ but otherwise we are FINALLY good :) (Fingers crossed) I am glad to see that things are going well...if they are a big crazy!!!

I told Jay he had to potty train the last one since I did the first three. He decided he would rather leave the country than do potty training.;)

You should probably let Libby know that there will be no peeing on the floor or carpet at my house! :)
