Sometimes I Have Good Days

John pointed out the other day that most of my posting lately has been negative. Looks like he's right! Sorry to be such a downer!

But I do have good days, it's just that my good days are all the same lately. Not many interesting things happen on good days.

Lately Libby has been doing better on the stairs. If she hesitates I ask her if she wants to go up like a bear. So usually she ends up clumping the stairs on all fours. When she is wearing a dress I have to hold the skirt up for her. Sunday she wanted to go DOWN like a bear. After visions of a cracked head and rush to the ER and a missed flight on John's part, I suggested she go down like a snake. So she came down the stairs waving her arm and hissing. If she doesn't want to hold my hand in the parking lot I start jumping up and down like a kangaroo. Then she'll grab my hand and kangaroo her way across the street. Pretty cute.

With John being in Atlanta I was worried about dealing with these sweet girls alone. Luckily they have both been on their best behavior. Jaina has been a little needy, so I've had to hold her more than usual, but Libby is dealing well with that. Every time I've needed to put Libby to bed I've been able to get Jaina fed and happy in the swing while I read Libby some books and sing her some songs and get her tucked in. Every nap and bedtime this week Libby has gone straight to sleep. Each night they either sleep through or only wake up once. I like this trend :)

Libby's new favorite movie is "Toy Story 2". At the end the toys have to go to the airport to rescue a fellow "child's plaything". Libby gets all excited about seeing the planes. When we are outside (or inside) and she sees and/or hears a plane flying overhead, she starts yelling "pane, pane! Bye pane!". She about had a fit when we took John to the airport Sunday. She was yelling "pane!" the whole time. I wonder if she'll realize on Saturday that we are actually on one of those "panes".

The person we were going to borrow a portable DVD player went out of town the other week and won't be back before we leave. So now I'm out my key entertainment tool for the plane ride. John suggested I take the laptop, but since I will be toting a baby, a diaper bag, an entertainment bag, a snack bag, and keeping track of Libby, the last thing I need to tote is a super-heavy laptop. I think it's built out of steel. I just have to hope that my pipe cleaners, blunt-tip scissors, and masking tape can keep Libby's attention for the 3-hour flight. I am also hoping we end up in one of the terminals that has a playground. Wouldn't that be a great way to spend the time waiting for a flight? Get 'er tired! Maybe she'll sleep! Yeah right.

We are still struggling with Jaina's feeding habits. I haven't had to give her a bottle since Sunday, but I have had to get her to sleep before almost every feeding. She does go to sleep quickly however. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to take frozen milk with me to the airport Saturday. I'm actually leaning towards taking some, just in case. Any of you seasoned breastfeeding travelers have any tips/advice?

John gets home tomorrow evening. Can't wait!
