Cute Kids on the Block

Libby's vocabulary has really taken off lately. She says some really cute stuff. She also repeats some not-so-cute stuff, but that's entirely the fault of her parents.

When I see Libby, I say "Hi Sweetie" and she says "Hi Sweewie" and smiles.
Libby has started requests. "More tweat" (she gets M&Ms when she poops in the potty). "More Dora" (She fell in love with Dora and "Eego" (Diego) when we stayed at my sister-in-laws house in August.) "More bwead" while handing us the butter she just got out of the fridge.
When we need to part Libby from something she does not want to part with, we say "bye (insert fun thing)" Now Libby does it automatically, whether she is upset or not. We see a dog at the park, Libby waves and says "bye gah". We leave the playground, "bye swide", etc. Very cute.
At church the other week we were looking at a book that had a frog in it. Libby's word for frog sounds quite similar to a curse word. So we're looking at the book and not softly, Libby says the word over and over again, about six times. And then, bless her little heart, she said "WIBBIT!" Phew.
When Libby wants something, she'll say what she wants, then say "OK". For example, "nilk, nilk, OK nilk (milk)". "Dora, OK Dora."
Speaking of Dora, Libby is actually learning quite a bit from that show. We were at the park and Libby pointed and said "hill!" then ran up the hill. I don't recall ever pointing out a hill to her, but Dora fequently has to go over hills. She also has learned "gate" and "Swiper, no swiping!"

At night and before naps, I tuck her in and she starts saying "Bye, see wawer (see you later), mwah, mwah (blowing kisses). I say it back to her and she says it again and I say it again and she says it again and so on until I shut the door. And then, through the door, I can hear her still blowing kisses. She does this in the morning when John leaves for work as well.

If I am reading or otherwise occupied, Libby will stand by me and point at the floor and say "down, down" until I put down whatever is in my hands. She then climbs in my lap and asks for "Sun" (Itsy-bitsy Spider), "Guck" (5 Little Ducks), "Wound, wound" (Wheels on the Bus), or "Cocorn" (Popcorn Popping). She also likes 2 little songs with hand movements that my mother-in-law taught her. We do them over, and over, and over again.
At the park, I do my workout on the "active oval". You can see the playground from one section. Each time we pass that section, Libby says "swide, OK swide". When I finish my workout, I leave the track and turn down the sidewalk to the playground. As soon as I make that turn, Libby says "Yay! Woo-hoo swide!" She also steals Jaina's binky over and over again while in the stroller.

There is also a thing we do called "Honk, honk, beep, beep, woo, woo". Basically, you honk someone's nose twice, then beep it, then grab their chin and wiggle it side to side, saying "honk, honk, beep, beep, woo, woo". Libby skips the honk honk and goes straight to beep beep. Last night she did it to the cat, touching him gently on the nose, then waving her hand in front of his face while saying "woo, woo". Smart girl did not try to wiggle his chin :)

When Jaina cries, Libby rubs her on the head and says "Don't worry" and "It's OK". Jaina loves to watch Libby and laughs when Libby dances or plays with her.

Speaking of Jaina, look at what she likes to do:

When you are holding her on your lap or in your arms, she will wiggle and squirm until she is hanging upside-down. Then she will stay there for ever. When I lay her on my lap, she arches her back to get her head off my legs. If I re-adjust her positions, she automatically gets upside-down again. Goofy girl. We got some video of it, but I'll download it and post it later.

Jaina has started rolling all over the floor. You put her down in one place and two minutes later she's across the room smacking her head on the door while trying to eat a necklace. She's been doing "push-ups" for a few weeks, and today got up on her hands and toes for a few seconds. Also, when you lay her on her back, she does "crunches". Basically, she is growing fast and being darn cute while she does it.

Jaina also likes to blow out her binky. She'll blow real hard until the binky pops out her mouth. She gets some good distance sometimes. She also "talks" while sucking on her binky and falling asleep. It's really funny sometimes and I have to try to not laugh so I don't wake her up.

Yeah, I've got cute kids. I'll keep 'em :)

I enjoyed catching up on your blog this morning. Libby and her antics are adorable. Julia also wanted to be upside down all the time - I remember when she was very young, if she started sceaming we could just hang her upside down and immediately she would calm down and be happy. Maybe that is where the song "if you chance to meet a frown ... turn it upside down" comes from!? :)
