A Perfectly Good Day For A Fort

Totally beside the point, but my SIL had a sweet baby girl yesterday! Yay!

I was bored this morning, and so was Libby. I'm trying real hard to limit her TV consumption, so I had to think of something else to entertain us while Jaina slept. We also needed motivation to pick up all the toys and vaccum the muffin crumbs off the floor. I decided we should build a fort. We got the living room all cleaned up and vaccumed, and I brought out a big pile of blankets. I haven't built a fort since I was about 12 and Trate and I burned a hole in his family room carpet. Unfortunately, fort building is a lot more fun when you're a kid.

Libby didn't quite get it that forts were for crawling under, not climbing on. After a few repairs and some well-placed tacks, we had a pretty good fort. Libby and I dragged pillows and books underneath and I turned to the country music channel on TV. I know, I said no TV, but this is like a radio station on TV, no videos or anything, just random pictures and artist trivia. Anyway, we hung out for a while reading books and being goofy. Then Libby decided it was time to use the blankets as a slide. The fort didn't last long after that. I did get one picture of the fort with my phone. This was taken mid-demolition:

After Jaina woke up, I rearranged some furniture, threw some couch cushions and pillows on the floor, got the girls dressed up, and staged an impromptu photo-shoot. In an effort to not shell out a boatload of cash, I thought I could do the photos myself. With my 35mm film camera. No ideas yet on how we'll get a photo of the whole family. Needless to say, I'm open to suggestions. The shoot went well while it was just Libby by herself. Once I added Jaina to the mix however, it all went downhill. I'm wondering how long it will take before Libby doesn't cry whenever Jaina touches her. I'm also wondering if she will be like this with each of her siblings. I'll drop the 3 rolls of film I took today at CVS and hopefully will end up with a handful of good ones.

Saturday we are going to the pumpkin farm. I'm hoping some kind soul there will take some pictures of us as a family. Pictures that will include the tops of everyone's head, and in which no one is crying or shoving their younger sibling. A girl can dream.

I hope your pictures turn out better than mine. I took the kids this week to get pictures taken in their Halloween costumes and out of the 3 different times I went, only two pictures turned out okay.
