Smellin' Good For The Holidays

Our apartment still smells like carpet glue from the new carpet put in before our arrival. And every once in a while, I have unpacked an unidentifiable source of funk. And we have a toddler. Needless to say, our apartment does not smell like roses. The other day I called my mom and got this recipe sure to make your entire abode smell like Christmas:

Slice up one medium apple and one medium orange. Put them in a saucepan, peels and all.

Add about a tablespoon of whole cloves, two cinnamon sticks, and a sprinkle of allspice. (I don't have any allspice, so I used nutmeg)

Cover with water and bring to a low simmer. Relax and enjoy the smell!

This concoction will last about 4-5 days or so, just keep adding water as it gets low. And don't forget to turn the burner off at night or when you leave the house!

I remember my mom doing the same thing. That smell makes me think of Christmas and home to this day.
