John says he hopes we are here for more than 6 months because of all the money it will save us (ie, all the stuff we can pay off). I'm all about that, but I also don't want to pack, move, and unpack again in 6 months. Nosiree.
In two weeks I have unpacked every box, washed every scrap of clothing (here's a peek into my OCD world: when I go on a trip, all clothes have to be washed before they are packed, then washed again when they are unpacked. Same goes for a move, except instead of washing, say, a week's worth of clothing, I have to wash every single piece of clothing, linens, and towels. It took a week just to do the laundry.), and hung every picture. I am done. Finished. Finito. And I feel so proud of myself! I did a little video tour of the apartment yesterday and will get that downloaded and posted sometime soon.
"Oh, how the mighty have fallen." That's what the check-out guy at Petco said to me when I bought a litter box last week. Yep, you read that right: a litter box. Hobbit is so not cool with sharing a bathroom with humans. In seven days he pooped somewhere other than the potty 4 times. Jerk. So he is back to a litter box, and let me tell you, that is one happy cat. I never really noticed how much he hated the potty. Poor guy. John is not happy with having a box again, but I'm not cool with Hobbit pooping where my children play, ie. the living room floor.
Libby was doing great adjustment-wise up until the last few days. I think my inattention has finally gotten to her. Today I put her down for a nap at 9:30 am. It's just one of those days. I think she is only now (at 11 am) falling asleep. But she has been playing quite happily in her room for the last hour and a half, so I don't feel bad about keeping her in there. Now that we are all moved in, I can get back to a routine with her. And since we are so close (1 block away) from the biggest park in Atlanta, we can go there daily. Which is the plan once Fay makes her way out of town. I will also be starting a little preschool with her in the next few weeks, mainly learning letters (which she already knows, so we will be focusing on their sounds), numbers, and colors. This is a little foray into homeschooling to see if I can a)handle homeschooling and b)have a few years to figure out how I want to do it/what methods and tools to use before I have to really buckle down. Bet that little piece of information was a shocker to a lot of you, huh? But think about me and my weirdness and you'll realize you really aren't all that shocked, are you?
Oh yeah, remember that vacation we took? The three-week one? The one where we got home 4 days before we had to move from Texas to Georgia? Well, I'm still working on those posts, but until I get those up, here's a little tidbit for you to enjoy:
