But my computer is. Remember last year when my computer kept fritzing out and we sent it in for repairs 4 times and they finally replaced it? Well, the "new" one is having the same problem and is currently in the shop. Whoop-dee-freakin-doo. So now I get to use John's laptop for a little bit each night to check my email.
Earlier this week my sister called and said "Mom wants to know why you haven't posted lately. Are you sick?" Then today my Dad facebooked me wanting to know what was up. So, since our babysitter is running late, I have a few minutes to give a quick update.
Did you see that? Our babysitter? We're going on a date! Two Christmases ago, my SIL gave us a gift card to TGIFriday's and offered to watch Libby so we could go on a date. We went out about a month later, and haven't been out since. That's 18 months without a date, people. John finally asked me out again. I'm all dressed up, am wearing jewelry, and MAKEUP! I haven't worn makeup since a job interview over a year ago. Makeup people! Proof that this night is indeed a big deal, even if it is just dinner.
Jaina update: She is now rocking back and forth on hands and knees. She did it for the first time last Saturday. Monday she decided to perfect the skill. In the morning she was making little attempts, getting in position for only a few seconds. By the time John got home that evening, she had it down pat. Since then she has lunged a few times to get to a toy. Jaina is very vocal and it's cute to wake up to her babbling in the middle of the night. Better than waking up to screaming.
We've started sleep training with Jaina. I know there is a lot of controversy behind it, but we had a lot of success with Libby and really like having a two-year-old that hops in bed and goes right to sleep. It's been going really well. We used the Ferber Method ("Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" by Richard Ferbe). the majority of the time, Jaina goes right to sleep without any fussing now.
Libby update: Libby's verbal skills are really exploding. She's showing interest in learning her numbers and colors in spanish, thanks to Dora. Libby had a great Halloween week. We did Boo at the Zoo and Trunk-or-Treating at church, and Trick-or-Treating in a nearby neighborhood. She perfected "Happy Halloween" and "Trick-or-Treat". She would walk right in to people's houses and sit on their couches and play with their dogs. Luckily, everyone we met that night was super nice and Libby charmed them all. She got a pretty good haul, and John and I are enjoying it immensly.
My running has stopped for the time being. Multiple colds and cold weather have prevented our trips to the park. I'm re-thinking my goals, wondering if I should try to continue running, or give up the 5k goal for now and focus on just getting fit and losing weight. I have some great at-home workouts that I have had much success with in the past, including pilates and cardio workouts. I think that is the direction I will move in and will revisit the 5k in the spring.
John's work is same-old, same-old. He's gearing up for year-end evaluations and the such. Not much change in his life :)
So there ya go. I'll try to post more frequently until we get our computer back, then I'll get back into my groove. We're stocking up on pics and videos to share, so there will be lots in the weeks to come!
