A Very Star Wars Christmas
Here it is, the one family picture we've managed to get in which Libby is not freaking out because Jaina is touching her. It was the last picture on our last roll of film, and somehow we got a great photo.
Our Christmas was great. John's presents were all Star Wars themed - books, video games, figurines, and a Mr. Potato Head Spudtrooper (gag gift). Libby got wooden word puzzles, books, wooden dolls with magnetic clothes (genius invention), a tea set, wooden blocks, lacing beads, a train table ("beautiful table!" says Libby), and movies. Can you tell we went a little overboard with her? Jaina got a music cube and a baby doll. I got a DS (which I opened back at Thanksgiving), a bunch of games for it, some bubble bath, and a Ped-Egg. We all got tons of candy and treats in our stockings. I think the only non-sugar food Libby ate yesterday was bread.
We had a great day. Libby played really well with Jaina, sharing all the toys. I made ham, scalloped potatoes, and green beans for dinner. Tres yummy. But not as good as the brined pork roast, german potato salad, and saurkraut I made for Christmas Eve. Over the last two days I've spent about 10 hours in the kitchen cooking. That doesn't include the hours of clean up. I refuse to cook today. Thank goodness for leftovers!
Over the last few weeks our ornaments have slowly migrated to the top of our tree. Libby takes the ball ornaments off, pulls the tops off of them, then sucks on them and says "bottle!" Ugh. She also chucks her toys up in the tree trying to knock down candy canes and ornaments. And hangs toys from the lights. Three ornaments met their maker this season. John stepped on a snow globe, and it literally exploded all over the living room. I'm still finding little peices of the plastic globe two weeks later. Libby has shattered two ball ornaments. One got knocked out of the tree by a pig, then said big landed on it, and I'm not sure how the other broke, I just found pieces of it in and under the tree. Let's see...she broke the knob off of something this morning, we just haven't figured out what it goes to, and I had to through away some decorative candles because she tried to swordfight with them. Kids and Christmas decorations just don't mix.
Mom, Dad, Heather, and Gregory arrive in 3 days. Can't wait! Neither can my laundry.....
