Bathtime

Libby has been pretty croupy the last two days and as a result has not been taking a nap. She plays happily in her crib for a few hours, giving me a little alone time. Today I decided to take a much needed bubble-bath. Before I turned the water on, I could hear Libby over the moniter talking and singing to herself. When I turned the water off, she was sobbing and coughing. Since she doesn't usually cry like that, I go out of the tub to check on her. Since I knew there would be no nap now, and that it would be impossible to take a bath with her out of her crib, I chose the inevitable - she came in the tub with me.

When Libby was an infant, I tried to bathe her in the hand-me-down baby bath my sister gave me. It was a terrible, back-breaking experience. From that time on until Libby was about 10 months old, all her baths (and showers) were taken with me. This still happens every once in a while, like after we go to the pool. Today, I still hadn't washed my hair when she started crying, so in she came. Libby loves baths. She played with some toys while I washed my hair, then sat in my lap while the water drained so I could run her a bath of clean, unsoapy water. Once the water was once again running, Libby spied my half-eaten apple (apple-eating and bubble baths go well together). I handed it over thinking, "what better place to get all apple juicey and sticky than the bathtub? No clean-up!". I snapped a few pics while she enjoyed her afternoon out of the crib.

I'm TOTALLY with you on no messy clean-up. :) That stage where they only want to eat on their own, but make a crazy mess doing it drives me bananas. On one hand you get to enjoy a minute of eating on your own. On the other hand, the clean-up is the pits. It's a trade-off.
