Libby and I spent the morning at my 30-week appt, then went to the library for story time and a much-needed book replinishment for me. After that we went to Target to stock up on cleaning supplies. Did you know that in the 5 months we've lived in this apartment, we haven't had a broom or a mop? It's true. Sad, but true. We vacuum our kitchen floor. It doesn't work very well. Today I buckled down and bought a broom and a mop, some Pledge spray (the wipes just don't cut it - I clean old school) and some Mr. Clean liquid Multi-purpose cleaner. My bathroom and kitchen won't know what's hit them by this time tomorrow. Let me tell you, nesting is great. It's the only time I get excited about cleaning. I'm almost salivating over scrubbing my bathroom. I should have babies more often :)
I also finished my baby registry while at Target. You can check it out at target.com, just click on the registry button at the top and follow the instructions. Feel free to purchase Sprout a gift!
Anyway, back to the package. Libby and I had been home maybe 10 minutes when UPS showed up at my door. We had barely thawed out and were eating lunch. I grabbed my pitiful broken Swiss Army knife (John got his confiscated at the airport the other week, I think it's time we bought new ones!) and cut the tape. Inside the plastic bag inside the box was not the fabric scraps I had been expecting from Mom, but the completed quilt for Baby Sprout. Simply gorgeous. A heart pattern in muted, old-fashioned prints. My favorite Williamsburg blue, sage green, light pink, rose, yellow, mostly florals. I took a few pictures, but they just don't do it justice. Here is the front:

Here is the back:

The background print is a dark rose with white sprigs. The same print is on a wide band on the front. The binding is the same as the light print shown on the back, tan with little sprigs of pink and yelloq flowers and green leaves. The small stripe is made up of little squares of fabric that match the hearts on the front. The front also has a stripe of these little sqaures all around it. The background fabric on the front is cream with very light yellow silk-screened flowers. I just love this quilt! It fits exactly with the feeling I have been having about little Sprout - quiet and observant, and tender hearted. Not like her outgoing firecracker of a sister! It's in my lap warming my legs as I write this. I can't wait to wrap little Sprout in it. Not much longer to wait!
And then, in the bottom of the bag, was this:

Wow!!! I'm completely impressed. I didn't realize your mom was such a seamstress. My mom is not at all into sewing at all. I might could have her hot glue my little sprout one. :)
