My Baby, The Toddler

Yesterday we set up Libby's toddler bed. I got done rearranging and cleaning her room just before nap time, and decided to give the bed a try. I got Libby all settled and shut the door. About 30 minutes went by without a sound. I thought "could it really be that easy?" As it turned out, no. Libby wasn't sleeping, she was playing quietly. Then not so quietly. Then she started banging on her door. So into the crib she went, and fell asleep right away. Last night John and I were debating whether to put her in the crib or the bed. Libby decided for us when she walked into her room and crawled straight into bed and laid down. So John covered her up and shut the door. And she fell asleep. And she slept the night through - in her little bed.

John and I checked in on her before we went to bed, like we do every night. She still looks like a baby, just one with impossibly long legs. It made us a little sad to see her in that bed, but at the same time it made me a little proud to see her growing up so well.

We'll try again with nap time today. Wish us luck!
