As If My Life Wasn't Complicated Enough...

John's Project Manager called him Thursday and asked "Would you move your family to Atlanta for 9 months if we got you a furnished apartment?"

Uh, sure! The thing is - we won't know if this is a done deal for probably another month, but our lease here expires on August 31st and we have to give our notice to vacate on Tuesday. We're not quite sure how we're going to work things if moving to Atlanta doesn't work out.

The pros: We love Georgia! We live in Athens for 2 1/2 years, which is about 45 minutes NE of Atlanta. We have missed that area so much. There were so many things we wanted to do and see in Atlanta that we never got around to doing. And now they have the World's Largest Aquarium! We'll be driving distance from both sets of grandparents, which is just super. And, drumroll please, we'll be rent-free the entire time, giving us the opportunity to pay off our car and my teeth, and maybe even have enough left over to buy me the sewing machine I have been desiring for so long. Also, there is an awesome park right across the street from the apartment I found with multiple playgrounds, a swimming pool, a lake, hiking trails, and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Can you tell we're a little excited?

The Cons: I'll have to find another pediatrician. I hate pediatrician shopping. And I love, love, love Dr. Chartrand. And we'll have to settle into another new ward, just as I was getting comfortable here and actually hanging out with people.

To me, the pros outweigh the cons.

So if it all works out, I'll start packing when I get home from NC and hopefully we'll be out there by the end of August. Preferably sooner so I can watch the Olympics on free cable.

Wow!!! Talk about a full plate! :) Sounds like an exciting time, though. I hope things work out in the smoothest way possible--if there is one and whatever that is. You are certainly living an adventure!

Wow Kristen,

What will you do with your stuff in the meantime? Would you store it in Texas? It sounds like fun though. At least you would be able to be around John during the week, eh?

Keep us posted ;-)
