Summer Trip, Part 2. Lauren's House!

The two weeks spent at Lauren's house were so much fun. Ryan and Audrey had school, so Libby and Angelina were free to play together all day long. Our first night Libby woke up at midnight and didn't go back to sleep until 5 am. Jaina woke up at 7 am. Thankfully, after that night we all slept very well. Each morning Ryan or Audrey (or both) would come into my room and play with the girls before getting ready for school.

Remember how before this trip Jaina was on a nursing strike and I was trying everything to get her to nurse? Lauren thought it might be because she wasn't getting enough sleep because I always kept her in the same room with Libby or myself while she napped. So I put Jaina in Lauren's nursery during naptime. For the two weeks we were at her house, Jaina would nap for 4-6 hours during the middle of the day and didn't have any more trouble nursing.

Laurens was about 34 weeks pregnant when we stayed with at her house. When Jaina would get fussy and tired, Lauren would nestle Jaina above her pregnant belly, draping her the top of it. Jaina loved to sleep that way. Any time Jaina would fuss, Lauren would take her and get her to sleep in no time. It was so nice to have an extra pair of hands, especially such capable hands, to step in and give me a break. I got really spoiled.

Lauren bought a little inflateable pool and put it out on the deck. Libby and Angelina had a blast playing in the water. They also enjoyed watching Dora and Jack's Big Music Show together. I will always remember when Angelina said "I like Diego. He's SOOO handsome".

I spent most of the two weeks just hanging out at Lauren's house. We went to my mom's a few times, and Mom came over quite a bit. We had a few family dinners, so I got to see everyone. I also got to go to Lauren's baby shower. I made a quilt for Joyce's baby and flannel blankets for Lauren's baby (Nicholas), Joyce's baby (Kira), and for Jaina. I also helped Lauren's daughter Audrey make an NC State blanket for baby Nickolas. I hoping Lauren and Joyce will email me pictures of the blankets since I forgot to take any of my own.

Libby kept sneaking into Lauren's bathroom and stealing her electric toothbrush. We ended up getting Libby an electric toothbrush of her own to keep in Lauren's bathroom.

John was able to come up from Atlanta for the weekend, which was really, really nice. We went by his old office so everyone could meet Jaina. She was a big hit, of course! One of John's co-workers gave Libby a little mechanical "bug" that her husband built. When you wind it up, it spews sparks and crawls along the floor. I took it to my mom's and set it down in front of Mezzo who tried to kill it repeatedly. We had to leave it behind with my little brother because we didn't think the lighter sparker thingy was really safe to have on the plane. I'm hoping Gregory will bring it back to me when he comes to visit after Christmas. (That's a real big hint, Babe.)

One evening when everyone was over at the house, Lauren's kids started pushing Libby around on this little car:

We had a little birthday party for Libby at Sarah's pool. There was a huge waterslide there that Libby LOVED. We must have gone down it two dozen times. Eventually she started refusing to go down with me, and would try to push me down ahead of her so she could go by herself.

Jaina got to spend some time with her Great-Grandma.

And her Papa:

Over all, our time at Lauren's house was a blast. I spent most evenings chilling with Ken and watching corny movies. And I even got to play their Wii a little bit with John. Now THAT was a lot of fun! At the end of two weeks, it was off to the beach for a week with John's family.
