Just Us Chickens

Most of the time Libby is not at all like my earlier post. She is usually sweet and happy and gentle (or "ghetto" as she says it). This morning she climbed up into bed with me while John was getting ready to leave for work. I thought he had left already when Libby piped up "Daddy, Daddy!". I said "Daddy just left, it's just us chickens now". And Libby replied "bock, bock, bock!"

Periodically, Libby will climb in my lap, move her arms up and down in front of her and say "wow, wow, wow" (round and round), telling me she wants to sing "Wheels on the Bus". If that doesn't work, she says "shh, shh". If that doesn't work, she rubs her eyes and says "wee, wee, wee".

As soon as John starts to sing "If You're Happy and You Know It", Libby starts yelling "hooway, hooway!" If I start to sing it, she gets mad. It's a Dad-only song, I guess.

Libby really, really likes her rocking horse. The other day after her bath she hopped right on. The Naked Cowgirl. She yells "woo-hoo" and "eee-haw" while she rocks. Fortunately for the horse (but not keeping with tradition, Aunt Rachel) I was able to get her off before she peed on it.

Libby cleans up after herself without being prompted. I'm not sure how this happened, but one day in the tub, after announcing she was "ah done!" she scrambled around and put up all her bath toys. When she is coloring she dumps out her cup of crayons, but when she is done, she puts them all back and sets the cup on her table (after tasting one or two). She also puts away her blocks when she is done playing with them, bringing the bag to me to zip up. Nice.

She has become the pickiest eater in the world. She'll take a bite or two of something, then ask for something else. Sorry Babe, no go. The other night at dinner she was eating lots of rice and green beans when she pulled a classic baby-at-the-table move, one she had not done before. She upended her bowl onto her head. When she removed it, she had a nice little rice patty right on top of her head. We tried to scold her and clean it up without laughing, but had to give up after a while. We were laughing too hard. Rice being the sticky substance it is, it adhered to her hair and wouldn't budge. After dinner I told John I would do the dishes if he would do her bath. He agreed, but about 10 minutes later wished he hadn't when Libby pooped in the tub. Talk about a clean break for me!

Libby likes to steal my cell phone and take pictures. Usually all she gets is a black space, or something really blurry. The other day she actually got a clear shot:

Her foot.

I liked hearing about Libby's songs. Merry Grace likes "Once there was a Snowman" which once you start you have to sing 100 times or else face the wrath of a baby with a mind of her own. :) She also loves "Popcorn Popping", "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home", and "Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam". Those are our staple songs that she never (and I truly mean NEVER) tires of.
