A Long Explore

Today Libby and I went for A Long Explore as A.A. Milne would say. Basically, I followed Libby as she wandered the trails weaving through our complex. We collected acorns and small sticks, and Libby made friends with a tree: We walked some more and came to the sand volleyball court, which has been claimed by the children as a large sandbox. As there is no volleyball net, the children go unchallenged in their claim. Libby promptly got down on her stomach, laid her head on the sand, and said "haww". I didn't get a shot of her laying prone, but in this shot she looks like she's listening for something. A train, or a herd of horses, perhaps? After the sand box we passed the pools. Libby likes to stand with her face pressed up to the bars and gaze longingly at the fountain in the small pool. Today we had something else to gaze at. Ducks! A pair of Mallards were taking a break in one of the pools, quacking their little hearts out. Just on the other sie of the fence is a large pond, so I am unsure why they chose the clorinated water over the scummy pond water. I just hope they don't make a habit out of it. It's hard to see them in the picture (my camera phone doesn't zoom well), but right in the middle by the silver bar, you can see a dark blur and a light brown blur. Those are the ducks.Eventually we made it to the playground. Libby likes to ride the "cows". I keep trying to explain the difference between a cow and a horse, but she is adamant that both are cows.

These overalls are a genious hand-me-down from Aunt Raydene. We have such a hard time finding pants for Libby. If they are long enough in the leg, they fall off her skinny waist. If they fit in the waist, they are way too short. I can't wait for summer when the length will no longer be an issue. Anyway, these overalls are awesome.

Tonight after dinner we decided to pack Libby in the stroller and walk to Sonic for dessert (jealous, Kristen?). We had a great walk, the weather is so nice tonight. We stopped at Kroger for a few things then got our banana shakes from Sonic and walked home.

We are so blessed to be in a complex that is not only close to shopping (and the best chinese AND pizza in town), but that also has such nice areas to walk and play in for Libby. I have to keep telling myself that as I haul my hugeness up three flights of stairs to get to my front door. But I am grateful to be here with it's quietness and trees and bunnies that come out to play at night. That doesn't stop me from trolling Cragslist for a house to rent next year, though :)
