Back to (gulp!) Normal

Mom left this morning, causing Libby and I both to cry. Libby will miss her playmate. Each morning when Libby woke up she would go get in bed with Mom and theyw ould sit and look out the window and talk about the trees and birds they saw. This gave me the chance to wake up slowly and get Jaina fed and changed before having to remember I am the mom of two kids now.

Last night Libby slept through the night without fussing and Jaina only woke up once. This morning John said "Let's do that every night!" Amen, brother. This morning I got the house back to normal. I took the baby swing out of storage and stuck Jaina in it (Libby really, really does not like it when I put Jaina in Libby's chair). And guess what? She loves it! She was wide awake when I put her in, and she fell asleep after a while and has been in there for about an hour now. Talk about heaven! She's smiling in her sleep now, talking to the Angels.

Anyway, I got the air mattress broken down and put away and moved all of Libby's toys back into the sunroom. I'm really happy to get those toys out of the living room.

Physically, I am doing so much better than a week ago. I'm almost feeling normal. I still get sore when I'm up on my feet a lot, and I am just exhausted at the end of the day, but if I take things slow I can get done what I need to get done.

Some of the below photos need captions. Picasa wouldn't let me do them under the photos so I'll just do the explanations here.

Saturday night Mom made a huge chef salad for dinner. I had hard-boiled some eggs the night before. Libby got her hands on one and peeled it all by herself. Instead of adding it to the salad, Libby ate it as part of her dinner. The pictures of her in the kitchen show her peeling the egg.

Monday John had the day off from work. We went to the park in the morning before it got too hot. Mom went a little nuts with the camera :)

After the park Mom took us to lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I got the Chicken Tostada Salad. I highly recommend it. Mom took Libby out to the mall while John and I finished eating. As entertainment, they made 12 round trips on the escalator.

Yesterday Mom cut my hair - 8 inches came off! I was slouched over while she cut, so it ended up a bit shorter than planned. But I am very, very happy with it. My hair was just getting unmanageable. And very hot. It's still long enough for a pony tail, which is a must for this mom.

Yeah, so Mom's gone. I'm at home alone with 2 kids, and they're both mine. Yikes.

When my mom left me after having Elise, I thought my heart would break. I was so sad and overwhelmed. I was so appreciative of her help and had no idea how to take care of this baby all on my own. :) Luckily we figured it out pretty well, but isn't it wonderful to have a mom who can and will pitch in and help like that. I'm glad you guys had such a wonderful time.
