We went to a potluck party tonight for the nursery workers and their families. We had a lot of good food, and good company. Libby wouldn't eat her dinner, but did scarf down half an ice cream sandwich, 2 sugar cookies, half a gingerbread cookie, and a bunch of cheddar crackers, washing it all down with a cup of fake lemonade. What good parents we are. So we are bracing ourselves for a repeat of last nights' sugar high and subsequent crash, after Libby and I had an M&M appetizer after which Libby ate no dinner. It was scary. She was literally bouncing off the walls, climbing furniture and jumping on John and myself, yelling and spinning and running, and in the blink of an eye, it all turned into melt-down city. We rushed her off to bed at that point. I don't think the sugar has hit yet, so we're hoping to get her asleep before it does. I'm such a good mom.
On the way home we drove through some neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights. We stopped at 2 houses that had their lights set to music, one coordinated with Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Pretty nifty. A friend told us about The Deerfield Christmas, a neighborhood in Plano where every house is loaded with lights. they have their own radio station to listen to as you drive through. Traffic directed by the police department, and horse-drawn carriages available for $135 an hour. I think we'll skip the carriage, it's a bit too cold (not to mention pricey!) this year. We are planning on driving through Christmas night, a nice end to the celebrations, I think.
We took some pictures tonight and will be taking a lot more over the next few days. I'll do a Christmas picture post once it's all calmed down.
Oh yeah, Christmas cards went out a little late, I hope they get to you on time!
