I asked John to go to the store on the way home from work today to pick up a few things for dinner. He brought a load up, then said he had one more grocery to get. I went to the kitchen to finish prepping dinner, and when he came in, he said "come see the last grocery". Not quite sure what the heck he was talking about, I went to the living room, and there he was, holding a little Christmas Tree! I was so happy! We had decided to skip the tree this year because they are so
expensive. But this close to Christmas, he picked one up for 50% off, getting a 5 foot tree for $15. And it's gorgeous. Fat and full and green and beautiful!
John moved our stack of boxes to place the tree in the corner, and we promptly decorated it. The finished product:

Notice the ornaments at the top of the tree. We found out pretty quickly that Libby wants to pulls them all off the tree. Since the tree is so short and Libby is so tall, only the top foot of the tree is decorated!
One of the best things about bringing the tree home - now he has motivation to get rid of the boxes I have been asking him to get rid off for weeks. He promised to do them tonight, since they are all in the entry way now.
John also unknowingly brought home a stow-away:

The grasshopper stayed on the ceiling for about 40 minutes, then flew into my hair. I ran outside and John got him to fly away. We were glad we were able to get him outside so easily, since we didn't think we would be able to get him off the ceiling without hurting him. Only in Texas do Christmas trees come with grasshoppers!
Buyer of trees, hauler of groceries, dumper of boxes, and saver of grasshoppers, my husband is pretty awesome!
