Trouble Already!

I had my 19-week appointment with the midwife yesterday. Libby also had her 18-month appointment with the family doctor who just opened his practice in the birth center. I love him! But this post is about me, not her, so let's get back to me!

I had a good visit with Amy, my favorite midwife, the one I wish every day is on call when I go into labor. We did our usual 40 minutes of chatting, throwing in some birth stuff here and there. I haven't gained any weight yet, which may be due to the fact that I keep getting little stomach bugs. And I didn't start gaining any weight with Libby until I was past the 5-month mark, and then gained about 10 lbs a month, so it'll happen, just you wait!

Then it came time to listen to the baby's heartbeat. I got all gelled up, after Amy wrestled the gel from Libby, and Amy started to move the doppler around my belly. It took her about 3 minutes to find the baby because each time she would hear the heartbeat, the baby would move. She was grinning and laughing the whole time she was searching, so I wasn't worried. When we finally got a lock on the little heart, the baby kept kicking and hitting the doppler, so we had to wait a few more minutes for the little booger to calm down enough for her to time the heartbeat. Strong and steady, punctuated by flips, kicks, and maybe a few headbutts. Sounds like we've got a firecracker on it's way!

Health-wise a good sign. Discipline-wise--beware. :) Glad everything is going well. We miss you guys. Merry Christmas.

Yay! What fun is coming your way. Are you going to find out what you're having???

I will have my ultrasound on the 27th and if the wee one cooperates, I will be able to tell you the gender later that day. I actually don't want to find out, but John (and the rest of the world) do, so I guess they win. I will get a CD of pictures and video that I will post here for you all to enjoy!
