Libby woke up super-early at 6 am, but went back to sleep with a warm bottle of milk until 7. Said bottle of milk apparently was too much for her diaper to handle, so a quick bath was in order. Since she didn't sleep in her Christmas pj's, they were nice and clean for her to don after her bath. I popped the wonderful Egg Casserole in the oven (so wonderful because you prepare the night before, so on Christmas morning all you have to do is bake it and eat it) and we settled in the living room for John to read the story of Christ's birth.
Then it was time for presents. We let Libby open all of hers to begin with. First came the Mega Blocks, which elicited a nice "wow" from Libby. Then the foam bath letters ("ooh, wow"), and finally a big pack of Crayola Twistable Crayons (more "wow" and "was dat?"). Then John opened the card from my sister Rachel, which contained two keychains and a bracelet from her daughter, Kinsey. Too cute! Libby put her bracelet on immediately. Mom got me a book "21 Days Closer to Christ" and a journal for all the "private" things I don't tell you guys :).
Then it was time for stockings. John found "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure", Reese's Pieces, Macadamia nuts, and Ghiradelli chocolates in his. I found "While You Were Sleeping", a Mah Jong computer game, Hubba Bubba bubblegum, and a small box of Jelly Bellys in mine. Libby's was full of coloring books, headbands, gel pens (parental supervision advised), fruit snacks ("ooh"), an apple, a small plastic tiger, and a plastic Holstein Cow. Funny story about the cow - I wanted to get Libby a model horse or two for her stocking, but when we got to the display, she saw the cows and started yelling "Cow, cow, cow, cow". So we got the cow instead. All through Target, she clutched the cow and said over and over "Cow, ooo (moo), cow, ooo, cow, ooo".
Now Libby is now playing with her favorite toy, an empty wrapping paper tube. She is picking things up off the floor and putting then in one end to watch them come out the other. John says "once again proving my theory...".
The bow is still stuck to her butt.
What a wonderful day.
