I guess they worked after all

I had my home visit today with my favorite midwife. Last night I had contractions regularly 10 minutes apart, but they still didn't hurt all that much. Today Amy checked my cervix and there is no change. Still dilated between 1-2 cm, cervix still very posterior. She said that the baby is fully engaged now, meaning her head is pretty well wedged in my pelvis. Because of the position of the baby's head in relation to the position of my cervix, her head is basically pinching my cervix shut. Every little bit helps, right?

Since there is no change, I was told I can come off bedrest and resume "light activity". Like my life ever requires much more than that :) I can also ignore my contractions, no more keeping time until I'm in active labor. I am happiest about that, I think. I was really going nuts trying to keep a log of all these contractions, when the baby's movements hurt more than the actual contractions do!

Amy also brought my goody box, all the cool things I will need to have this baby at home. Of course they will bring their own equipment, but I am now loaded with dropcloths and pads and a tape measure, and a thermometer, and lots of other things I haven't explored yet. And I get to keep them all! I think I'll open it up and discover all the neat things after Libby goes to bed tonight. Oh, the thing I'm most excited about - (cover your eyes, Dad) - the disposable panties! They are so comfy! Anyway, all is well and we are on the road to being prepared. Can't wait for this baby to make it's appearance!

I can't believe what I was missing by not reading your blog for a couple of days. I will have to stay on top of it better. Good luck with everything. You sound good.
