My Husband is Freakin' Awesome

This morning I started my cooking projects bright and early at 7am after making a round of smoothies for us all. John left for work and I got things going. Chicken in the oven, then begin the spaghetti sauce. Halfway through dumping things in the crock-pot I realized I had missed a key ingredient when I was transcribing my shopping list - diced tomatoes. Big deal, you think, just run to the store. Great idea, if your husband wasn't driving the only car. Since my brain just isn't working lately, I called John for a solution.

"I forgot diced tomatoes".
"Uh-oh".
"Should I walk to the store?"
"Are you worried you'll go into labor?"
"No, I'm worried I'll be too tired to do all the cooking when I get back."
"Oh." Then silence.
"Wait, what kind of tomatoes do you need?"
"Diced."
"Why don't you just dice up the tomatoes we have?"
"You're a GENIOUS!!" and more exclamations and praise followed.

So I diced up some of my tomatoes and continued on my way. Who knows if that will mess up the recipe, but I doubt it. Two hours later I have the chicken cooling on the counter, a pork roast in the oven, spaghetti sauce in the crock-pot, and two pots of soup simmering on the stove. My counters are wiped, my dishwasher is running, and my floor is swept. Now if someone would just knock on my door and offer to pick up Libby's toys and vaccum, all would be well in my world.

Libby is beside herself with the fact that she got to watch two movies in a row this morning. That never, ever happens. But boy, did it keep her out of my kitchen! Yesterday she realized that my super-stretchy dress made a great toy and she spent the day hiding under it (which John says look really, really funny to see our legs sticking out the bottom but nothing else of Libby) and grabbing the hem and pulling it back as far as it will go (which is pretty dang far) then letting go and watching it snap back. Since we cooked schnitzel last night (a stinky meal to cook), that dress is in the laundry hamper and I'm wearing my nightgown because NOTHING ELSE FITS!! So Libby was hiding under my nightgown and following me around the kitchen until I put in a Wiggles DVD. Followed by The Lion King. She's cuddled up next to me right now watching the last bit.

So in a half hour I need to turn the roast, get the chicken in the freezer, and turn off on of my soups so it can start to cool. Everything (except the crock-pot) will be done by noon and I can finally take a shower and hopefully get a nap while Libby does. John and Libby seem to be suffering from allergies this week and Libby is not sleeping well. We got her some children's Claritin last night and it seems to be helping today. I took some Tylenol PM last night in a desperate attempt to get some sleep. It wasn't the best sleep I've ever had, but it was the best I've gotten all week.

Oh, and contractions? Not a one.

The cooking sounds awesome!!! I keep meaning to do that (prepare meals ahead) since we have a small freezer downstairs now. I just haven't quite gotten around to it yet. :) Maybe you will be my inspiration!

I haven't been sleeping well either. It's been close to a week now, so last night I took a unisom, hoping it would help. It did help, but like you, it wasn't the best sleep I've ever gotten. Good luck to you. Hopefully with the contraction situation you'll be farther along when real labor hits and you'll get the wonderful home birth you were hoping for.
